For over 20 years I have served as a credentialed cancer registrar, or Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C), speaker, author, consultant, and educator in the oncology healthcare community. I’ve had the privilege to work with many registrars, administrators, and physicians across the country who specialize in oncology and cancer surveillance.
My mission is to help healthcare professionals, oncology care organizations, and ultimately patients, to realize the value of real-time, insightful data that is needed for personalized medicine, enhancing treatment outcomes, improving performance and the healthcare delivery process.
I enjoy being part of a collaborative team to transform the cancer registry workflow and processes as part of this mission. Seeing a single piece of data that is critical to the patient’s care become a valuable and actionable insight that can improve the process is what the cancer registrar’s work is all about.
When I am not working or writing, I engage my creative side and create digital, printable products for my Etsy shops, read, or hang out with family, friends, or the fur babies. I love watching murder mysteries and thrillers and have been known to binge watch them from time to time. I also enjoy being outdoors. My “happy place” is anywhere in a redwood forest with all its earthy smells and a slight breeze through the tree tops. I love road tripping through the Avenue of the Giants in Northern California! The Sierra Nevada’s are almost in my backyard and I’m so fortunate to be close to Yosemite National Park, the Pacific Ocean, and all that California has to offer!
